Operation Smile engages public-private partnerships to advance health care delivery, train local medical professionals to provide surgical care for patients in their communities, donate crucial medical equipment and supplies, and increase access to surgical care so that everyone living with cleft is treated.

General Description:

The Social Media Intern will work with the Social Media & Digital Insights Specialist, providing support for Operation Smile's social media, blog, email, websites and other content-related projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Responding to audience engagement on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Creating monthly and campaign-specific analytics reports.
  • Copyediting social media, blog and email content.
  • Brainstorming ways to increase audience engagement and capitalize on relevant trends.
  • Assist in the development of social media content campaigns.

Experience required:
  • Social media community management.
  • Social media analytics.
  • Copyediting in AP style.
  • Social media writing.

Characteristics/Skills Required:
  • Experience in social media scheduling and analytics software like AgoraPulse, Sprout Social or Simply Measured.
  • Strong copy editing and writing skills.
  • Experience identifying strong image composition, background in photography or graphic design.
  • A strong interest in global health or sustainable development.
  • Strong attention to detail and self motivation.

Time commitment:
  • 15 to 20 hours per week.
  • Three months.
  • Can be remote or Virginia local.
